Notes from the Edge of the Orchard
If you’re feeling battered and bruised these days, like the world’s grown bitter, let me tell you:
There are still things that matter. Even in a rotten world.
Some day are hard
You wake up late, or you feel overlooked and bruised. The world feels colder. The sun doesn’t seem as bright as it was yesterday. And the peace you're trying to find seems to be just out of reach.
You hope that things will get better, but nothing you try seems to take off. But here’s the thing: Every day you have the opportunity to learn something you never knew before. It's out there. Keep looking for what makes you fulfilled. But also...don't forget...it's already inside of you
Happiness is not a prize.
It's a practice.
A choice.
A quiet resistance.
🌳Connection Over Perfection
A beautiful exterior means nothing if you’re rotten on the inside. Choose the people and moments in life that help you become the best version of yourself. Let the rest go. Find those who see you and your kindness for what it is. Don’t lose who you are, but stay close to the ones who help you grow.
What matters: Finding the light.
🍂Purpose Over Pretending
Don't spend the whole season acting like someone you aren't. Your life isn't meant to be theater. You’ll feed your own heart when you grow wild — help others, share stories. It’s when you dare to fail, and when you create something new, that you meet your potential.
You don’t need to pretend your life is something it isn't. Learn to be fruitful in your own way.
What matters: Knowing you mean something to someone.
🌸Peace Over Productivity
There is pressure to work faster, to produce more. But is there ever an end? Is it ever enough?
Flowers grow in stillness — unrushed, unseen, and completely unapologetic.
Your pace isn’t a problem.Your stillness isn’t a flaw.
What matters: Feeling whole, not just harvested.
☀️Sun or Shadows
Sometimes it's easier to hide the hard truths. To tuck them away under a rock and claim we have never been bruised, have never wilted or doubted.
Living truthfully is a tough choice, because lies can change the world and the truth can hurt. But it’s only through truth that we will see pain or acknowledge when the things we do cause harm. It’s truth that gives us the chance to make things better from the ground up.
Every day we make the choice to live in the shadows or to live in the light. And no one else can choose for us.
What matters: Living in light, even when the sun burns
❤️ Love Over Labor
Let’s get honest: it’s easy to be consumed by what you do — to believe your worth lies in how much you produce. But we things are serious, we think of the ones who we love and who love us.
They're the ones in our soul.
So Love...Fiercely.
Show up.
And let things be messy. Sometimes you lose a part of yourself so you can find something greater.
What matters: Real love
🌧️Find Light in Loss
Bitterness. Grief. Injustice. Loss. These are not the end of the story.
In the garden, it's decay that feeds the next season.
Our worst days can make us wiser.
The darkest soil can birth the brightest blooms.
What matters: Finding the lesson in hardship
🍇Be Yourself
A fig doesn’t envy a pineapple. A lemon doesn’t try to be a strawberry.
Your flavor is unique — your story, your voice, and everything that makes you…you. You’re one-of-a-kind.
Share it. Speak it. In song, poetry, protest, comedy, or kindness.
What matters: Being yourself. Unapologetically.
🌻Stay Tender. Stay Radical. Stay Whole.
It’s tempting to harden. To shrivel. To shut down. But it's the open-hearted, truth-telling, love-growing rebels--they're the ones who will change the world.
What Matters: Grit. No matter what. Don't quit.
The world is better with you in it
Final Thought:
You are more than your work. More than your scars. More than what anyone else says you should be.
What matters is how you love, how you grow, and what you leave blooming when you're gone.
And if no one’s told you lately —You’re doing better than you think. The world is lucky to have you.
